If you ate a bug, would you like it?

Is January slow for your business?
It is for many of us. That includes theme parks. In that is a lesson for all of us.
Theme parks are a big business.
And Disney World isn’t the only one.
Valdosta, GA’s Wild Adventures is one.
You may have never heard of it but it has some creative people working there.
This time of year is death in the theme park business. In many states it’s too cold to go or you’re busy with other stuff.
The Themed Entertainment Association reported an 11% attendance drop in 2017.
Could your business stand that loss?
We didn’t think so.
The Valdosta park folks came up with a crazy idea. They probably had trouble selling it to top management.
The idea? “I Ate a Bug and Liked It.”
They offered free tickets to the first 100 visitors to eat a dry-roasted cricket.
Comments from those who took the challenge ranged from “pretty good” (obviously a gourmet) to “never again.”
Should the Wild Adventures folks look for even greater profit potential in this?
Of course. Take the Seattle Mariners.
The toasted crickets sold at their concession stands were so popular, they had to limit how many you could order.
We’ll make no comment on what this says about Left Coast tastes.

Here’s our challenge for you:
What kind of crazy promotion could you come up with to boost your business?
How daring are you and your people?
