August 13, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – Gallivan, White & Boyd, P.A. announced that shareholder Jennifer Johnsen has been honored with the John Alan Appleman Award by the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC). Each year, the FDCC honors the Substantive Law Section Chair who has made the most outstanding contribution to the advancement of the FDCC’s educational goals through the work of his or her Section. The recipient is chosen by the President based on the recommendation of the Chair and Vice Chairs of the Projects and Objectives Committee.

The FDCC is composed of recognized leaders in the legal community who have achieved professional distinction, is dedicated to promoting knowledge, fellowship, and professionalism of its members as they pursue the course of a balanced justice system and represent those in need of a defense in civil lawsuits.  Johnsen has been a member of the FDCC since 2007. FDCC Membership is a selective nomination only process for attorneys who have distinguished themselves professionally. Membership can only be attained by election of the Board of Directors upon the recommendation of an independent Admissions Committee. Johnsen is currently the Chair of the Life, Health and Disability Section.

Johnsen serves as Group Leader for the firm’s Business and Commercial Group and is Chair of the Firm’s Diversity Committee.  In 2003, she served as President of the Greenville County Bar Association and is the current Chair of the United Way of Greenville County’s Palmetto Society. Gallivan, White & Boyd shareholder, Mills Gallivan states, “Jennifer is a great lawyer with a broad base of knowledge in the highly complex ERISA, Life, Health and Disability practice areas. It is wonderful to see the FDCC recognize both her contributions to this Substantive Law Section and her leadership skills. Jen brings her ‘A Game’ to everything she does!”
