Attorney Thomas Chase joins Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP

Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP announced that attorney Tom Chase has joined its Greenville office as a member of the firm’s Transportation and Logistics team.

Chase brings with him nearly 25 years of front-line litigation experience in state and federal trial and appellate courts. At Smith Moore Leatherwood, Chase advises transportation clients on catastrophic injury and fatality matters, property damage, cargo and freight claims, business interruption, products liability and other insurance coverage cases. Throughout his career, Chase has tried more than 50 cases to verdict.

Before joining Smith Moore Leatherwood, Chase was a partner at a regional insurance defense firm as well as General Counsel at WYNIT Distribution, LLC.

Chase began his career as a prosecutor, working as an assistant attorney general in the South Carolina Attorney General’s office in the appellate division. He also served as a deputy solicitor for the 11th Judicial Circuit in Lexington, South Carolina, where he oversaw the Capital Prosecutions Unit.

Chase is a graduate of Furman University and the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Greenville County Bar Association.
