Award-winning architect joins LS3P team
August 28, 2020LS3P is excited to welcome Christopher “Chris” Rose, AIA, ASID, who joins the firm’s Columbia, SC office as a Senior Architect | Designer. Rose, a nationally recognized architect and interior designer, brings significant expertise across diverse market sectors. A graduate of Clemson University who owned a firm in Charleston for 25 years, Rose has designed a substantial portfolio of award-winning work for commercial, residential, restaurant, hospitality, civic, healthcare, and faith clients across the Southeast and beyond.
Rose began his architectural career in Columbia, where he co-founded the city’s Community Design Center working to reduce energy costs for underserved populations through improved efficiency in their homes. He has also worked extensively in the affordable housing sector; his design of the Charleston Cottages for the homeless earned a national AIA Honor Award, making him the youngest recipient of that recognition in 1991. Rose founded Christopher Rose Architects, PA in Charleston in 1995, earning additional national exposure when he designed the LEED Platinum HGTV Dream Home in 2013.
“I have known and respected the team at LS3P for my entire career,” said Rose. “I’m eager to join the firm and to have the opportunity to engage with the positive economic development momentum in the Columbia area and, with my diverse experience, grow the firm in new markets.”
LS3P’s Columbia Office Leader Mary Beth Sims Branham, AIA, believes that Rose adds key design strengths and experience to the team. “We were so fortunate to be able to add Chris to our team, ” Sims Branham said. “He brings world-class expertise and will serve as a firmwide resource, mentoring younger staff members and energizing our efforts to expand our footprint in the Midlands and beyond.”
Rose has been actively involved in community and professional organizations, including local, state, and national levels of the AIA; his work has been published in both books and magazines, and he is highly sought after as a speaker and design jury member.
