Awards announced from the City of Columbia’s 9th annual PARK(ing) Day!

October 8, 2024

We had a blast on Friday, September 20th, when the City celebrated our 9th annual PARK(ing) Day, with 12 parklets placed along Main Street! Each parklet was designed around the theme “Park less, ___ More” and each of our design teams did an amazing job of bringing their phrase to life!

This year also marked the fourth year that PARK(ing) Day included a contest – a People’s Choice Award, and a juried Best Design Award. The votes are in, and the winners are:

  • 2024 Juried Best Design Award: Catchy Name Collective, designing around their theme, Park Less, Imagine More

  • 2024 People’s Choice Award: LS3P Associates, Ghost Boss Podcast, designing around their theme, Park Less, Haunt More

Winners received bragging rights, as well as some fun, locally-sourced, prizes courtesy of the Columbia Museum of Art, Richland Library, Experience Columbia, the City of Columbia, and local potter Leigh DeForth.

Photographs of the 2024 parklets can be viewed on the City of Columbia’s social media pages. To learn more about PARK(ing) Day and how you can participate next year, visit www.columbiacompass.org/parklets.
