Bauknight Pietras & Stormer adds Jay Brietz to leadership team

BPS announced that Robert James “Jay” Brietz, Jr., CPA, CIA has been named a principal. BPS is one of the premier public accounting and consulting firms in the Southeast, serving leading businesses and individuals across the country.
Brietz began his professional career as an auditor for one of the big four accounting firms, primarily working with financial services companies. After a couple of years managing audits, he moved into industry working as an internal audit manager and financial consultant. After returning to public accounting, he built a Digital Risk Services practice focusing on SOC reporting, HITRUST, IT audit, and co-sourced/outsourced internal audit.
Commenting on the announcement, BPS Managing Shareholder Jay Swearingen said, “We’re pleased to welcome Jay to the BPS leadership team. Our firm’s SOC practice has grown over the last several years. A native of Charlotte, NC, Jay is a graduate of UNC – Chapel Hill with a degree in economics and speech communication. He received his master’s in accounting at Appalachian State. Brietz is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
