CHARLESTON, SC – August 23, 2012 – BC Gear, the Lowcountry’s only woman-owned precision gear manufacturer, has recently achieved its ISO 17025 certification and is in the process of pursuing its AS 9100 certification to supply the aerospace industry.  The new ISO 17025 certification allows BC Gear to offer inspection, testing, and calibration services.  In the midst of obtaining the new certification, the company launched an extensive marketing campaign and is beginning to receive new manufacturing contracts as a result.

Due to the recent growth in its business, BC Gear is now hiring skilled machinists in many areas as well as sales representatives.  Traci Combs, owner of BC Gear, states, “We are pleased to be able to expand and create jobs in South Carolina and contribute to the health of our local economy. We are excited to be able to grow our core capabilities and offer additional services to both our existing customers and expand into new and exciting industries such as aerospace.”

SC Works and the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) helped BC Gear to achieve its recent success by providing a variety of consulting services.  To apply for a machinist position at BC Gear or to learn more about BC Gear, visit their new website at bcgearinc.com or call (843) 207 – 8700.
