Be a Part of the Midlands Movement: Nonprofit Registration Now Open for Midlands Gives, Presented by Central Carolina Community Foundation
September 17, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – Nonprofit organizations can now register for the second annual Midlands Gives, a 24-hour local online giving challenge to be held on May 5, 2015, hosted by Central Carolina Community Foundation, the Midlands’ expert on philanthropy.
The inaugural Midlands Gives was a remarkable success. Over $700,000 was raised for 150 local nonprofits via a one-day online public fundraising campaign that went viral overnight.
“We were thrilled with the results of our first ever Midlands Gives Day,” said JoAnn Turnquist, President and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. “We asked our community to embrace this campaign and they responded beyond our wildest dreams. Most importantly, we proved that when our community comes together as one, we can make great things happen.”
Community members can get involved this year by encouraging local nonprofits they support to register for Midlands Gives. Contributions of just $20 or more will be amplified through sponsored prize incentives. Any 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization in good standing with the IRS, and a local office in one of the 11 Midlands counties the Foundation serves, is eligible to participate.
Although the registration deadline is Feb. 15, 2015, organizations are encouraged to register as soon as possible to secure priority scheduling for upcoming free social media and fundraising training sessions offered by South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO). Any nonprofit participating for the first time must attend one of these training sessions.
Central Carolina Community Foundation is also offering four free training sessions designed to build a profile and strategy for this year’s Midlands Gives event and, all organizations are strongly encouraged to attend.
