Ben A. Rast, CFP®, CPWA® of Morgan Stanley named Corporate Walk Chair for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night

March 26, 2023

The South Carolina/Georgia Region of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) announced Ben A. Rast of The Rast McFadden Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley as the Corporate Walk Chair of its 2023 Light The Night Columbia event. LLS’s annual fundraising event is held each fall to find cures and provide access to treatments for blood cancer patients. The Corporate Walk Chair will lead the effort in accelerating corporate support and driving revenue growth for Light The Night and LLS’s goal of creating a world without blood cancers.

Culminating in over 100 evening events each fall, communities across North America will join together at Light The Night carrying illuminated lanterns to take steps to end cancer – white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.

The funds raised through Light The Night are used to support LLS’s mission priorities: Research, Education & Support and Policy & Advocacy. Through campaigns like Light The Night, LLS has invested more than $1.6 billion since its inception in research to advance breakthrough therapies.

“I am so honored to serve as the Corporate Walk Chair and look forward to encouraging local businesses and corporations in this incredible community to join me in supporting Light The Night,” said Ben Rast, LLS’s South Carolina/Georgia Region Light The Night Chair. “Together, we are taking steps to end cancer.”

This year, Light The Night Columbia will be held on Thursday, November 2nd at the South Carolina State House.

“When a loved one hears the words ‘you have cancer’ it is one of the darkest moments in your life,” said Amanda Yancey, LLS executive director. “At Light The Night, it is our aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer through research and cures, and reinforce the urgent need to raise awareness. LLS is a global leader in the fight against cancer, and we won’t stop until we achieve a world without blood cancer.”

Despite the progress, more than a third of blood cancer patients still do not survive five years after their diagnosis.
