Bennett Hospitality gifts $50,000 in honor of Emanuel AME Church

College of Charleston scholarship open to contributions
CHARLESTON, SC – Bennett Hospitality, a locally owned, full-service real estate company is pleased to announce a grant to the College of Charleston of $50,000 to establish the “Mother” Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship was created to honor the victims of the Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting and will be awarded to church members and students on Charleston’s peninsula.
Starting in the fall of 2016, the “Mother” Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church Endowed Scholarship is now open for contributions to support Charleston’s sons and daughters. Donations can be made by contacting College of Charleston Associate Vice President of Development Cathryn H. Mahon at 843-953-5432.
“I was so moved and inspired by the Mother Emanuel response to this tragedy that I wanted to do something. This $50,000 gift that I am making is my small contribution in their honor,” says Michael R. Bennett, founder and owner of Bennett Hospitality. “I encourage all those who were inspired by the grace and forgiveness of Mother Emmanuel to contribute any amount to this scholarship. I can think of no better way to strengthen our community than to offer the exceptional academic resources available right here in the heart of Charleston.”
