Beverly Pilkey joins CCSD as Executive Director of Exceptional Children
September 8, 2018Charleston County School District (CCSD) is proud to announce and welcome Beverly Holt Pilkey to the Exceptional Children department. She has served as CCSD’s Interim Director of Instructional Programs since the start of the 2018-2019 school year.
Pilkey began her career in 1990 as a high school English teacher in Lexington, North Carolina. She has 10 years of experience as an assistant principal and principal in both North and South Carolina school districts at three Title I schools, where she facilitated exemplary student growth. Pilkey also served as a special education coordinator, coordinator of academically gifted programs (NC), coordinator of gifted and talented programs (SC), coordinator of K-8 education, and director of elementary education over 27 elementary schools. Most recently, Pilkey served as principal at Forestbrook Middle in Horry County Schools before coming to the district to serve as Interim Director of Instructional Programs.
Pilkey earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Appalachian State University and a Master of Education in School Administration and Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
