Beyond the Books: Hillcrest High Hosts Annual Job and Career Connections Fair

March 30, 2026

The gymnasium at Hillcrest High School transformed into a hub of professional possibility last week as the school hosted its annual Job and Career Connections Fair. The event, a cornerstone of the school’s commitment to post-secondary success, brought together hundreds of students with local employers, trade schools, and military representatives.

Designed to bridge the gap between high school academics and the modern workforce, the fair targeted seniors looking for immediate employment as well as underclassmen exploring future career pathways.

Building Local Bridges Over 40 businesses from across the Golden Strip and the greater Greenville area were in attendance, representing industries ranging from advanced manufacturing and healthcare to hospitality and public service. Local favorites, including representatives from the City of Simpsonville and Greenville County Schools, were on hand to discuss both part-time summer opportunities and long-term career tracks.

It’s about more than just finding a job; it’s about making a connection, said one Hillcrest guidance counselor. Seeing our students walk up to a booth, shake hands, and hand over a resume they worked on in class—that’s where the real-world learning happens.

Key Features of the 2026 Fair

  • Resume Review Station: Professional volunteers provided on-the-spot feedback for students’ resumes before they approached potential employers.

  • The Interview Ready Corner: A dedicated space where students could practice their elevator pitch and receive tips on professional etiquette.

  • Trade & Technical Spotlight: A significant presence from Greenville Technical College and local apprenticeship programs highlighted high-demand, high-wage careers in the Upstate that don’t necessarily require a four-year degree.

Success Stories in Real-Time The impact of the fair was immediate for several Rams. Multiple local businesses conducted preliminary mini-interviews on-site, with some students walking away with invitations for formal follow-up meetings next week.

For the seniors in the Class of 2026, the timing of the fair is critical. With graduation just over two months away, the event serves as a vital launchpad for those entering the workforce directly or looking for meaningful summer employment to fund their upcoming college transitions.

Looking Ahead The Career Connections Fair is just one part of Hillcrest’s broader Future-Ready initiative. The school continues to encourage students to utilize the Naviance platform and the Greenville County Schools Career Centers to refine their post-graduation plans.

We are incredibly proud of the maturity and professionalism our students showed today, said a Hillcrest administrator. The Simpsonville business community continues to show up for our kids, and we are grateful for those partnerships.
