“Remarkable” Progress

COLUMBIA, SC – The family of Bob Coble released the following statement from Providence Hospital this afternoon.

“The progress has been remarkable. This week, Dad regained consciousness and has been sitting up, asking for his phone, so he can get back to work. Our family and his medical team now expect a full recovery.

We recognize that Dad has a lot of friends, colleagues and supporters who want to visit him — but it’s still too soon. He still needs time to rest.”

-Daniel Coble

“Mayor Bob” suffered a heart attack at the State House on April 15th and surgeons performed quadruple coronary bypass surgery on him that evening. He served as Mayor of the City of Columbia for 20 years and earned recognitions including The Order of the Palmetto, Woodrow Wilson Award for Leadership in Historic Preservation and “Ambassador of the Year” from the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
