Bob Jones University Names Hargis its Distinguished Servant for 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – April 24, 2012 – Bob Jones University (BJU) recently recognized Dr. Grace Hargis with its 2012 Distinguished Servant award. Hargis has been teaching English and linguistics at BJU since 1961.

Hargis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible from Bob Jones University in 1960. She also earned a master’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina in 1961, and her doctorate in linguistics from Indiana University in 1970. She is responsible for planning and developing multiple courses, majors and minors within the English and Linguistics departments.

In addition to her duties at BJU, Hargis is an active member of the South Carolina Republican party,  and has served on the Natural Resources Committee in Greenville County and the Greenville Transit Authority board. She is also active in her local church, Faith Baptist in Taylors, and volunteers with TW Quarter Circle Ranch Ministries, where she serves as a horse wrangler and counselor.
