Bobbitt Design Build Completes Brittons of Columbia Renovation

COLUMBIA, SC – August 28, 2012 – Bobbitt Design Build recently completed a 3,266-square-foot renovation for Brittons of Columbia located on Devine Street. This location serves as the Brittons’ headquarters.
The new store expansion will allow for a larger customer service station, more spacious dressing rooms with individual lighting controls for reduced shadowing, and on-site tailor shop operations. The additional space provides the opportunity to double the size of Brittons’ showroom and product area and expand the product collection and offerings.
Bobbitt was selected for the project due to extensive renovation experience, particularly with continued operations renovation allowing clients to continue their daily business throughout the life of the project. This was extremely important for Brittons, as this is their only location and any downtime has a direct impact on revenues. Architrave, Inc. will provide the building design.
Expansion of the space required the removal of an interior block wall to the join the spaces. Bobbitt installed a temporary wall system in the store so the load bearing wall could be removed without interrupting business operations. The project was completed in two phases to ensure no shutdown.
This expansion comes at the perfect time as Brittons is currently ‘busting at the seams,’ said Perry Lancaster of Brittons. The new store space gives us the opportunity to expand lines of clothing and accessories offered to our valued customers.
Brittons of Columbia, family owned and operated since 1947, opened its newly renovated retail clothing store on August 1.
