Boeing hosts S.C. mentored suppliers

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – March 20, 2012 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] hosted its South Carolina mentored suppliers at its North Charleston, S.C., site on March 20 to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Boeing mentoring program in South Carolina.

Executives from ADEX Machining Technologies in Greenville; J.I.T. Manufacturing, Inc. in Cowpens; JBE, Inc. in Hartsville; and UEC Electronics in Hanahan met with Boeing South Carolina leadership and discussed progress and future opportunities.

“The Boeing Company has an ongoing commitment to economic growth and development in South Carolina,” said Jack Jones, Boeing South Carolina vice president and general manager. “This is an opportunity for us to meet and recognize the impressive achievements of these South Carolina suppliers selected to participate in the Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ mentoring program.”

Boeing actively participates in both formal and informal mentoring of small and diverse suppliers. Joint efforts and collaboration between Boeing and small and diverse enterprises, strengthens the company’s supply base as well as the regional and national economy.

Boeing selects firms for the mentoring program based on their potential to develop technology, their business capabilities and the quality of products. To be eligible, businesses must have an AS 9100 certification, a standard of quality for the aerospace industry.
