November 15, 2024Bon Secours is proud to be recognized as a 2024 recipient of the Certified Zero Harm Awards. The Upstate health system is a frequent winner of this honor which recognizes hospital units who have an extraordinary commitment to quality of care and have also successfully eliminated some of the most common medical errors in healthcare today.
“I’m tremendously proud of our clinical leaders and team members who put a lot of time in every day to deliver safe, high quality care to our patients. This recognition reflects their dedication to upholding our mission of being good help to those in need,” said Matt Caldwell, President of Bon Secours St. Francis Health System.
South Carolina’s Zero Harm program was created by the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) in 2014 to support statewide efforts to create a culture of high reliability and reduce harm in our state’s healthcare facilities.
Bon Secours St. Francis Downtown Hospital’s 2024 Zero Harm Awards were in the areas of surgical site infection (SSI) abdominal hysterectomy, pressure injury, and central line bloodstream infection (CLABSI) for the CVICU, 2 nd floor surgical unit, and 7 th floor Med-Surg / Ortho unit. Meanwhile, Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside Hospital’s awards were in the areas of pressure injury, SSI colon surgery, as well as CLABSI on the 3 rd floor med/surg and ortho units.
“SCHA’s Certified Zero Harm Awards are about recognizing all the ways our members are thinking about how to reduce harm and improve the quality of life for their communities,” says Thornton Kirby, President and CEO of SCHA. “By thinking expansively and supporting our healthcare facilities in their high-reliability journeys, we are building a better state of health in South Carolina.”
