Greenville Facility Targeted to Open in 2027

The turning of purple sand marked the official start of construction at the Novant Health Patewood Campus. Novant Health leaders held a groundbreaking at the 11.5-acre site, which sits right between the Haywood Road and Roper Mountain Road exits off I-385.

“I believe that competition in healthcare is good, it’s essential,” said Ryan Lee, president of Novant Health Greenville. “When patients have the power to choose where they receive their care, it drives innovation, accountability, and better outcomes.”

Novant Health plans to open a 20-bed hospital on Patewood Drive. The facility will be outpatient-focused and offer specialty services, operating rooms and diagnostic imaging.

Staff from the City of Greenville’s Planning and Development Department worked closely with Novant to create a campus master plan for the new facility, ensuring it meets both City guidelines and the hospital’s needs.

The Novant Health network includes nearly 900 locations across North and South Carolina, including 19 hospitals and more than 750 physician clinics, urgent care centers, outpatient facilities and imaging and pharmacy services. The health care system has 41,000 employees and 8,600 independent and employed clinicians.

Novant plans to open the Greenville facility in 2027.
