August 27, 2012

MT. PLEASANT, SC – August 27, 2012 – Lowcountry Buckeyes, The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Charleston, SC, is returning to Mt. Pleasant for their 2012 festivities. President of the club, Gregory Hoffman, announced they have an agreement in place with Sparians at River Bowl Charleston, 613 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant, to host the alumni group for their Saturday football game watch.

Lowcountry Buckeyes is the largest out-of-state alumni group in the greater Charleston area with more than 250 members. The mission of the club is to generate funds for scholarships for lowcountry students attending The Ohio State University.

To date we have provided more than $35,000 to area students to offset the cost of their education, said Hoffman. Plus, we work with and donate to Habitat for Humanity and the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. According to Hoffman, Lowcountry Buckeyes will announce the 2012 recipients of this year’s $4,800 in scholarship funding September 1.

For the last two years the alumni club had been at The Three Lions Pub on Daniel Island while Sparians, (formerly Matthews, then Matty’s) underwent extensive renovations under their new ownership.
