Buncombe Street United Methodist Church presents Laura Story in concert August 19th

GRAMMY Award winning singer/songwriter Laura Story will perform at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church (“BSUMC”) on Sat., August 19. The concert will begin at 6pm with an opening performance by BSUMC’s contemporary worship leader, Emily Lynch.
Hosted by the church’s Sports, Recreation and Leisure Ministry, the concert is free and open to the general public. It will take place in the parking lot at the corner of Buncombe Street and Richardson Street in downtown Greenville. The Richardson Street parking garage, located across from the church, is free after 6pm. All family, friends and children are invited to attend this fun event. Food and summer refreshments will be available for purchase beginning at 5:30 pm. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will relocate indoors to Sisk Hall within Buncombe Street United Methodist Church. We strongly recommend that everyone bring a chair or blanket to use during the concert.

Laura Story is a Bible teacher, worship leader, GRAMMY and Dove award winning singer/songwriter, and bestselling author. Her first album “Blessings” was certified GOLD in 2011 and inspired Story’s first book, What If Your Blessings Come Through Raindrops. Laura’s music and writing exemplify God’s love and grace intersecting with real life, and serve as a reminder that despite questions or circumstances, He is the ultimate author of our story.
Amid her success, Story remains humble and trusts in the Lord’s guidance of her life and ministry: “Mine is not the perfect voice or the perfect life,” she explains. “My life is as messy as the next person’s, and God is using me to speak to the church. For this season of my life, God has really blessed me with some insight into who He is and what that has to do with me. For some reason, He just gives it to me in song form.”
Story recently released a new book entitled When God Doesn’t Fix It; Lessons You Never Wanted to Learn, Truths You Can’t Live Without. She holds a graduate degree from Covenant Theological Seminary and has served as a worship leader at Perimeter Church in Atlanta, Ga. since 2005.
Emily Lynch, who will perform the concert’s opening act, is BSUMC’s Contemporary Worship Leader. A graduate of Clemson University, Lynch has been singing and writing songs professionally for over a decade and recently recorded her sophomore album, Light Shine In, which was recorded in Nashville, Tenn. and features many A-list musicians, including the esteemed McCrary Sisters, as well as 21-time GRAMMY Award Winner Vince Gill.
The BSUMC Summer Concert Series, now in its fourth year, is made possible through generous donations made by the Morgan Sisters Endowment. This will be Laura Story’s second time performing in the BSUMC Concert Series. Past performing artists include Sidewalk Prophets, Aaron Shust, Chris August, Colton Dixon, and Francesca Battistelli. Battistelli, a GRAMMY Award-winning Christian artist, performed at last year’s summer concert at BSUMC before a crowd estimated at 3,000.
