CAE installs live cam overlooking runways
April 7, 2026
Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) recently installed a live feed camera overlooking its runways for the aviation enthusiast, and the aviation curious, to plane spot from anywhere in the world.
“In addition to being an exceptional travel resource to this community with support from our wonderful airline partners, we also serve as an educational resource,” said Chris White, President and CEO of CAE. “We want to spark an interest in aviation from an early age to hopefully attract young men and women into this dynamic industry.”
Powered by EarthCam and accessible from CAE’s homepage, the 24-hour live feed camera overlooks the airport’s two runways – a unique feature that only CAE has in the state amongst other commercial airports. Positioned facing east, the runway cam captures arriving and departing commercial aircraft, as well as private and charter operations.
“In addition to plane spotting, the new runway cam will also serve as a real-time weather monitor, something that may come in handy for passengers flying out,” said White.
If needed, the runway cam has various features and alerts in place to disable the live feed in a moment’s notice.
