California Governor Newsom Making Stop in Laurens as Part of SC Tour

California Governor Gavin Newsom will participate in a special meet-and-greet event in Laurens on Wednesday, July 9. The visit is part of his statewide “On the Road With Governor Newsom” tour, organized in collaboration with the South Carolina Democratic Party.

The tour, scheduled for July 8 and 9, includes stops across eight counties—Marion, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Laurens, Pickens, Oconee, Kershaw, and Florence—and focuses on rural outreach, recovery from natural disasters, and rebuilding local economies.

In Laurens, the meet-and-greet is expected to be an intimate and interactive session designed for residents to voice community concerns and hear directly from Governor Newsom. The tour overall highlights Newsom’s commitment to rural communities “hollowed out by decades of Republican control,” as noted by SCDP Chair Christale Spain.
