Capital Business Development Association to award 50 cybersecurity program scholarships to Denmark Tech
December 19, 2023State of South Carolina funding made available with training partner Fusion Cyber
Capital Business Development Association’s (CBDA) strategic education partnership with Denmark Technical College continues to expand as they will award fifty scholarships for the January 29, 2024, cohort on top of the eighty-four 100% scholarships funded to date by Cisco. The partnership represents one of the nation’s leading efforts to identify, train and place veterans as well as people from underrepresented communities in cybersecurity jobs that help keep enterprises, institutions, and communities safe.
The public private partnership among CBDA, Cisco, Denmark Technical College, the Cyber Bridge Foundation, and training partner Fusion Cyber is multi-faceted and represents an alliance with an emerging network of HBCUs and minority serving institutions. Beginning with Denmark Technical College in South Carolina, scholarship recipients have received world-class, AI-enhanced cybersecurity training. Graduates are being placed in remote and on-site jobs and reporting over 120% salary increases upon completion of the program.
CBDA organizes the scholarship committee that interviews the scholarship recipients for Denmark Tech and other institutions aligning with Fusion Cyber. CBDA also helps administer the donations, advocate for the recruits and raises capital and contributes funds for the scholarships.
In October CBDA held a golf tournament, raising tens of thousands of dollars for scholarships which will help fund the January 2024 cybersecurity cohort at Denmark Tech.
The inaugural golf tournament was so successful that CBDA is already making plans to reprise the event. Details for a July 2024 tournament will be available soon.
“Denmark Technical College is so grateful for these scholarships and for the ongoing partnership with Fusion Cyber, CBDA and Cisco. These scholarships help us make access to our quality cybersecurity program affordable and are a testament to their commitment to our small HBCU located in rural South Carolina,” said Willie L. Todd Jr., Ph.D., president, and CEO of Denmark Technical College.
“We are excited to be able to offer financial assistance for this innovative and collaborative program. The beauty of the program is that it’s 100% virtual, which makes it accessible from anywhere,” added Christopher Etesse, CEO of Fusion Cyber. “We encourage anyone interested in breaking into the cybersecurity industry to apply while funding is available.”
In addition to these scholarships, Fusion Cyber and Denmark Technical College have just announced a new grant initiative with the State of South Carolina. The grant will fund fifty 100% scholarships for SC residents in the January cybersecurity cohort. Interested applicants can apply at https://www.fusioncyber.co/
“We are placing qualified students, life-long learners and career-switchers into the fast-growth cybersecurity sector of the economy to help meet a growing national crisis, with great results,” said Etesse. “We just need to find more candidates to help get into this fast-track, career accelerator program.”
