August 24, 2023Walk, run, or roll to grant wishes for children in South Carolina! Local nonprofit Carolina Sunshine for Children will host its second annual 5k for children to raise funds that allow the organization to grant wishes to children in South Carolina with life-threatening illnesses.
The Carolina Sunshine 5k For Children will take place at Saluda Shoals Park on Saturday, October 21st at 9am, followed by an awards ceremony. Strictly Running will time the race. Participants should register through Strictly Running’s website. Cost to participate is $30 and includes a commemorative race t-shirt, finisher medal, and official 5k timing. Food trucks and local vendors will be on site.
“Our first 5k for children was a huge success and allowed us to make wishes come true for children and their families across the state who are experiencing health crises. We hope a great turnout this year will allow us to grant even more wishes to deserving families,” said race organizer Dr. Jason Stacy.
The average cost to fulfill a child’s wish is $3,500. Wishes range from family trips to shopping sprees. Carolina Sunshine for Children has granted over 800 wishes since its founding in 1983.
