Cayce Announces Amateur Photography Contest
March 12, 2008CAYCE, SC – March 12, 2008 – The City of Cayce is looking for a few great photos, 12 in fact, of life in Cayce for its 2008-2009 citizens’ calendar. The photographs should feature locations in Cayce or Cayce residents as its subject matter, but the contest is open to amateur photographers from all over the state.
“We are looking for photos that demonstrate why Cayce is such a great place to live,” said City Manager John Sharpe. “There are a lot of positive things happening in our community and we want to capture that excitement and display that pride in our upcoming citizens’ calendar.”
According to recent survey conducted by USC, Cayce residents feel very good about their community and cite it being a “great place to raise a family.” The City has a number of scenic locations, including the Riverwalk along the Congaree River, several picturesque city parks, and historic sites throughout the community. “With spring just around the corner, it’s a great time to capture Cayce in bloom,” Sharpe added.
Photographs must be the original work of the applicant and feature Cayce locations or people as its subject matter. Photos may be color and should be submitted as an 8”x10” image with name of photo, name of photographer, and completed registration and release forms, which are located on the City of Cayce web site (http://www.cityofcayce-sc.gov.)
The deadline for entry is Thursday, May 1, 2008. The grand prize winner will receive $100 cash prize and have his/her photo featured on the calendar’s cover. An additional 11 photographs will be selected for inclusion in the calendar, and those contestants will receive Reflections of Cayce poster and a Cayce T-shirt.
