August 6, 2021Charleston County School District will welcome students to the new West Ashley Center for Advanced Studies (WACAS) this school year and unveil major interior renovations to students and staff of Julian Mitchell Elementary School.
The $42.7 million WACAS project is a 100,000 square foot facility located at 4066 Wildcat Way. The four-acre campus is adjacent to West Ashley High School. The project was funded by a “Yes” vote of the Charleston Educational Capital Improvements Sales and Use Tax referendum of 2014.
Julian Mitchell Elementary School received an $11.5 million overhaul that increased campus security and included cosmetic renovations such as a front office vestibule, new paint, flooring, and casework.
