CCSD welcomes new Chief Financial Officer

Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced and welcomed Daniel Prentice as Chief Financial Officer. Prentice, a proud CCSD graduate, joins the district from Dorchester County, where he has served as Deputy County Administrator and Chief Financial Officer since 2016.

Prentice entered the field of finance in 2015 as budget manager for the Town of Mt. Pleasant (TOMP). In this role, he was responsible for developing and administering annual capital and operating budgets totaling $100 million as well as preparing and reviewing forecasts for all funds and performing routine high-level economic analysis. During his time with the TOMP, Prentice successfully developed the town’s data transparency portal allowing public access to budget and financial data, deployed a digital capital projects management system, and created a multi-stream, multi-scenario financial forecasting model for long range budget planning.
