Celebrating Five Years of Community Connection with the Buzz!
September 1, 2025On September 1, 2020, a heartfelt spark ignited in Laurens County with the launch of The Laurens County Buzz—a media platform created to fill a void and give voice to the uplifting, community-focused stories that shape local life.
Now, five years later, The Buzz stands as a cornerstone of positivity and community coverage across the county. In just half a decade, it has become a trusted source—praised for going “beyond the headline” to bring you the backstories that truly matter.
From the very beginning, The Buzz set the bar high—not only for itself but for all media outlets in the region. It was the first news outlet in Laurens County to:
-
Launch a newsletter, keeping readers connected with fresh updates in their inbox twice a week.
-
Offer free posting of jobs and events, creating a platform that helps businesses, nonprofits, and residents share opportunities and happenings without barriers.
-
Add a photo gallery component—The Social Scene, capturing the faces and moments of community life in a way that celebrates the people behind the stories.
Through these innovations, The Buzz quickly became more than just a news source—it became a hub for connection and celebration of all things Laurens County.
Publisher Brenda Stewart reflected on the journey: “When I launched The Buzz five years ago, my goal was simple: to shine a light on the good news of Laurens County. What I didn’t expect was how quickly the community would embrace it and make it their own. I’m so proud of the stories we’ve told together and excited for what’s still to come.”
