Central Carolina Community Foundation calls for Best of Philanthropy Awards Nominations

COLUMBIA, SC – Central Carolina Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization serving 11 counties in the Midlands by helping charitable individuals and businesses meet the needs of our community, is calling for nominees for the 5th Annual Best of Philanthropy Awards. The deadline for nominations is Monday, June 30, 2014.
Nominations will be accepted online at www.yourfoundation.org in the following categories:
* Individual or Family
* Student or Student Group
* Local Business
* Group
“Every day, people in our community make a difference,” said JoAnn Turnquist, president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. “Involvement and time are two of the greatest gifts we can offer our community. We want to recognize the people and businesses that are making a difference through these gifts. They are often the unsung heroes, and we hope our community will help us shine the spotlight on these everyday philanthropists.”
Central Carolina Community Foundation is once again partnering with Columbia Metropolitan magazine to recognize community champions. Best of Philanthropy Award winners will have a $1,000 donation made in their name to the nonprofit organization of their choice in the Foundation’s 11-county service area in the Midlands. All winners will be recognized at the Foundation’s annual celebration on November 13, 2014 and featured in the November issue of Columbia Metropolitan.
“We encourage members of our community to nominate co-workers, friends and associates – people who are making a significant contribution to our community by helping others in need,” said Turnquist.
To nominate, visit www.yourfoundation.org and, in 500 words or less, highlight the persistent effort of the person(s) to address areas of need in our community via their own involvement and participation. Nominations should give a clear demonstration of the specific impact and outcomes from those efforts. This can include fundraising efforts, but is not limited to monetary donations. A panel of judges that includes staff from Columbia Metropolitan Magazine and staff and board members from the Community Foundation will review the nominations and select the winners.
Nominees must reside in one of the 11 counties the Community Foundation serves: Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter.
