Central Carolina Community Foundation honored with 2018 Angel Award
November 27, 2018Central Carolina Community Foundation, the Midlands’ local center for philanthropy, is honored to be named to the 2018 Angels List by the South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond.
The Foundation is one of only ten charities named to the statewide list. The Angels were selected by the Secretary of State’s Office through review of financial reports submitted annually and nominations from the public. To be selected as an Angel, the charity must have devoted 80 percent or more of its total expenditures to charitable programs; the charity must have been in existence for three or more years; the charity must make good use of volunteer services; the charity must receive minimal funding from grants; and the charity must be in compliance with the South Carolina Solicitation of Charitable Funds Act.
Foundation Board of Trustee Members Bruce Hughes and Bhavna Vasudeva, as well as staff members JoAnn Turnquist (President & CEO) and Erin Johnson (Vice President for Community Investment) were in attendance at the press conference on November 14, 2018 to receive the award.
