Central Carolina Community Foundation Reveals List of More Than 250 Local Nonprofit Organizations

April 6, 2015

Who’s Participating in Midlands Gives on May 5, 2015?

COLUMBIA, SC – More than 250 nonprofit organizations are preparing for one of the largest local charitable events of the year, Midlands Gives, presented by Central Carolina Community Foundation on May 5, 2015.

Midlands Gives is a 24-hour local online giving challenge spanning 11 counties in the Midlands region of South Carolina. Last year’s inaugural Midlands Gives event was an incredible success, generating more than $705,000 for 150 local nonprofits through a one-day-only online public fundraising campaign that went viral.

This year, 252 organizations from Central Carolina Community Foundation’s 11-county service area have registered for Midlands Gives ‘year two’ – almost twice the number of nonprofits that participated last year.

Last year’s participating nonprofits benefited greatly from Midlands Gives, and many of these organizations are looking forward to participating in the online giving campaign again this year.

“Midlands Gives went extremely well for us last year,” said Mike Harmon from Jubilee Academy, a nonprofit located in Columbia, S.C. “It allowed more people to become aware of our organization, Jubilee Academy, which opened the doors to new donors and increased support. The excitement of people around the Midlands who partnered with many organizations was phenomenal. We are so thankful for the Foundation and SCANPO for the training and support they’ve given us through the Midlands Gives campaign. We are thrilled to take part again in 2015.”

IT-oLogy, located on Gervais Street in the heart of downtown Columbia, will serve as the 24-hour headquarters for Midlands Gives on May 5th. Giving stations, celebratory events and live television coverage will take place throughout the day. The public is invited to join Central Carolina Community Foundation at IT-oLogy throughout the day and is encouraged to visit during the live morning, midday and evening news broadcasts to support their favorite nonprofit organizations with cheers, posters and signs.

The public can also get involved in Midland’s Gives social media conversation by following Central Carolina Community Foundation on Twitter, @CCCFtweets, and using the official campaign hashtag, #MidlandsGives.

Making a gift online is safe and easy via the Midlands Gives website. To make a donation on May 5th, simply visit www.midlandsgives.org, select the nonprofit(s) you would like to support and make a minimum contribution of $20.
