Chapin soliciting feedback through business and community surveys

June 19, 2017

The Town of Chapin recently contracted with Creative Economic Development Consulting (Creative) in Elkin, NC, to conduct the strategic planning process to further enhance economic prosperity in the community. Creative has designed two surveys to capture input from citizens and businesses as part of the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) Analysis as well as opinions on local issues impacting businesses ability to grow and succeed. Results of the surveys will be combined with demographic data, commercial research, personal interviews, and a review of peer and aspirational communities’ best practices to create an economic development strategic plan that town leaders can use to recruit new businesses and retain existing businesses in the community.

“The information provided will remain confidential and will be compiled with all survey responses,” said Creative Founder and CEO Crystal Morphis. “We appreciate everyone’s participation as local input from these key stakeholders will make the strategic planning process a success.”

The survey will be available online on the town’s website and in hard copy at Town Hall, the Chapin Chamber of Commerce and Chapin Branch Library through July 7, 2017. All paper copies should be returned to Town Hall (157 NW Columbia Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036).

“We want Chapin to be a place great place for people to work, live and play, and this economic development strategic plan will play a vital role in helping us identify the most productive areas to focus our attention to create more job opportunities for our residents,” said Mayor Skip Wilson.
