Charleston Animal Society raises $105,000 during golf fundraiser

June 13, 2018

The 2018 Select Health of SC Tenderfoot Classic Golf Tournament was held on April 30, 2018 at Kiawah Island Club’s River Course

The Charleston Animal Society held its first golf tournament on April 30th at Kiawah Island Club’s River Course. The tournament raised $105,000 for Toby’s Fund, which provides the medical resources to treat animals suffering from health issues. In total, the proceeds will save almost 290 animals and cover almost one-fifth of the cost of our medical fund, Toby’s Fund, designed to treat the community’s abused, abandoned and injured animals over the year.

“We are thrilled with the outcome from the recent golf tournament,” said Laurel Greer, Charleston Animal Society’s Board of Directors Treasurer. “The support from the Kiawah Island Club allows the money raised to go directly to medical treatment for our community’s abandoned animals.”

With 29 teams and 116 golfers participating in the fundraiser, the 2018 tournament exceeded expectations. There were also additional opportunities to donate with raffles, and live and silent auctions.

“The Kiawah Island Club was proud to host the first Charleston Animal Society golf tournament at the River Course,” said Townsend Clarkson, Chief Operating Officer for Kiawah Partners. “We are dedicated to supporting local organizations and hope that the funds raised at this event will serve to place many animals in their forever homes.”

The mission of the Charleston Animal Society is to prevent cruelty to animals by providing an appropriate environment, preventing injury and disease or rapidly diagnosing and treating, providing sufficient space, proper facilities and ensuring conditions are free from fear and distress.
