Charleston’s First Day Festival returns August 10

The City of Charleston is preparing to help local students head back to school with confidence and the tools they need to succeed.
The annual First Day Festival will take place on Sunday, August 10, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Charleston Gaillard Center and Liberty Square. This free, family-friendly event will feature community resources, activities, and free admission to the South Carolina Aquarium during festival hours.
In the lead-up to the festival, the City is calling on residents, businesses, and community groups to participate in the First Day Festival School Supply Drive—an opportunity to come together and support Charleston’s students, one backpack at a time.
Donate school supplies at any of the following drop-off locations:
- Arthur Christopher Community Center, 265 President St
- Daniel Island Recreation Center, 160 Fairbanks Dr
- James Island Recreation Center, 1088 Quail Dr
- Bees Landing Recreation Center, 1580 Ashley Gardens Blvd
- Charleston Tennis Center, 19 Farmfield Avenue
- Maybank Tennis Center, 1880 Houghton Drive
- City Recreation Department, 823 Meeting St NEW! City Office Location – 200 Meeting Street
- CCSD Headquarters – 75 Calhoun Street (please label supplies “First Day Festival”)
