Children of Eden Comes to Life at the Mauldin Cultural Center
January 24, 2026The Mauldin Cultural Center is inviting the community to experience an epic and heartfelt musical this winter as the Mauldin Theatre Company presents Children of Eden, running February 12–15, 2026.
Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by John Caird, Children of Eden is a sweeping musical that reimagines stories from Genesis through a deeply personal and emotional lens. The production explores the timeless themes of love, family, faith, and the difficult journey of letting children grow into their own destinies.
The story follows Adam, Eve, Noah, and the “Father” who created them as they grapple with the headstrong and sometimes cataclysmic actions of their children. Along the way, the show delivers a message that is both bittersweet and inspiring: “the hardest part of love… is letting go.” While rooted in biblical stories, the musical focuses on relatable family dynamics — generational conflict, forgiveness, and the enduring bond between parents and children.
Known for its soaring score and emotional depth, Children of Eden has become a favorite among community and regional theaters. The original production was expansive in scale, featuring a cast of sixty, and the Mauldin Theatre Company’s production promises to bring that same sense of energy, heart, and spectacle to the local stage.
Performances will be held at the Mauldin Cultural Center at the following times:
• 7:30 p.m. on February 12, 13, and 14
• 3:00 p.m. on February 15
The show offers a meaningful night out for families, faith communities, and theater lovers across the Golden Strip who appreciate powerful storytelling and memorable music.
