Chris Boyd of Clinton High School Named Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week for Outstanding Performance on October 18th
October 21, 2024The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on October 18th, the Player of the week is junior defensive back Chris Boyd of Clinton High School.
Boyd is a junior defensive back, wide receiver and special teams player for the Clinton High School Red Devils as they defeated the Landrum Cardinals by a score of 56 – 2 ot remain undefeated in region play.
Chris Boyd is a Clinton High School junior for the Red Devils who had 5 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. Boyd had a kickoff return of 71 yards and a touchdown on special teams. Additionally, Boyd had 6solo tackles and 2 pass attempt breakups on the defensive side of the ball.
Head Coach Corey Fountain stated, “Chris Boyd works hard every day and si the ultimate competitor on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. His work ethic on the practice field translates to his play on the field. He gives everything he has every time he steps onto the field. He is not only a great player but also a great person.”
The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Boyd on October 31st at the bi-monthly Touchdown Club meeting. The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens. Player of the Week awards is presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County in 2024.
The October 31st meeting will feature Mr. Charlie Wentzky, Deputy Commissioner of the South Carolina High School League and staff member responsible for high school football operations within the state, as our featured speaker. The Farm Bureau Insurance “Player of the Week’ awards will be presented for the October 18 and October 25 High School football games as well.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. Al meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.
