Report to the Community

The Report to the Community for fiscal year 2014 – 2015 is provided to citizens for information purposes in order to share accomplishments and highlights related to the City of Columbia’s operations from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. Please note that due to the volume of daily activities required to run, grow and transform our city, this report does not encompass all relevant outcomes during this period of time however, it provides various snapshots from departments across the City of Columbia’s organizational structure.

2015 South Carolina Lender Matchmaker: Access to Capital Symposium

Lender Matchmaker is a speed-networking event between lending organizations and small business owners. This is a unique opportunity designed to help small businesses assess their lending options in the most efficient way. This year, the event will consist of two Matchmaking sessions, allowing for one-on-one (15 minute) meetings with up to 18 lending organizations.

 

WHEN: Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence

The 9th annual Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015, beginning at 9 a.m. at Finlay Park, 930 Laurel Street.

Registration is open for participants and exhibitors. Participant registration ends October 9, 2015. Exhibitor registration ends September 10, 2015.  Register online at http://gate.columbiasc.gov/mayorswalk/.

Cast Your Vote for a South Carolina Transportation Project Competing for “Best in America

Columbia’s Assembly Street Improvement project is one of 10 finalists competing to be called the “Best in America,” and on-line voters have the opportunity to put the Palmetto State ahead of projects in Michigan, Florida, Texas and other states.

Voting for the project is fast, easy and can be done up to 10 times a day per email address.

The $4.5 million Assembly Street project enhanced pedestrian and transit safety with improved sidewalks and transit shelters and was completed more than three months ahead of schedule and $1.5 million under budget. It was named one of 10 project finalists in the nation by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, AAA and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The City Announces CAPER Public Comment Period

In accordance with federal regulations, the City of Columbia’s Community Development Department is announcing a 30-day public comment period to review the draft of the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for the 2014-2015 Fiscal Year. Citizens will have the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed draft by attending public hearings or submitting comments through September 21, 2015.

The purpose of the comment period is to allow citizens an opportunity to review and comment on progress, achievements and expenditures of federally-funded programs in the City of Columbia. Public Hearings will be held at 6 p.m. on:
