City to hold Go Red Columbia community press event and photo op
February 5, 2026WHO: Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, City Manager Teresa Wilson, American Heart Association, Connor Shaw, heart disease survivors and advocates for awareness.
WHAT: Let’s have a heart to heart, about heart disease. The public is invited to participate in the City of Columbia’s Go Red for Women community photo op to help and support the women affected by heart disease, the number 1 killer of women.
Connor Shaw is a volunteer with the American Heart Association, and a spokesperson for the Smart Heart Act that the American Heart Association is currently advocating for. He will share his survival story from a recent sudden cardiac arrest.
This year’s event will be held on National Wear Red Day, Friday, February 6, 2026. The Go Red for Women movement encourages awareness of this issue and action to help save lives. Both men and women are encouraged to wear red the day of the event. There is no cost to participate.
The public and media are invited to attend this event.
