Clemson’s Missy Ryan named Outstanding Fundraising Executive

CLEMSON, SC – November 2, 2010 – Missy Ryan, senior director of development for the College of Business and Behavioral Science at Clemson University, has received the Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Ryan will be recognized at a National Philanthropy Day luncheon in Greenville on Nov. 17.

“Missy is the consummate professional and a great asset to Clemson and the college,” said Claude Lilly, dean of the College of Business and Behavioral Science. “Since arriving in September 2007 she has raised more than $16 million and continues to raise the bar in fundraising.”

Ryan came to Clemson from Atlanta, where she worked on the senior staff for FundraisingINFO.com. She is a certified fundraising executive and has a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan College and a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from Georgia State University. Earlier this year she was named a Fundraising Star by Fundraising Success magazine.

Ryan is past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Greater Atlanta chapter, one of the largest chapters in the world. During her tenure the chapter held the largest National Philanthropy Day in the world with more than 1,000 attendees celebrating philanthropy in Georgia. She is a member of the organization’s International Strategic Planning Committee, past chairwoman of the Chapter Support Subcommittee and a member of the AFP Generations Committee.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals International represents more than 30,000 members in 213 chapters working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
