Clemson-based startup MyOverlap set to launch iOS app, calendar integration, and inclusion in university’s software suite in March
March 4, 2025Scheduling app developed by Clemson students will soon be available to the public
MyOverlap, a group scheduling software developed by Clemson students, is launching an iOS app and integrating with Outlook, Apple, and Google calendars.
Currently web-based, MyOverlap is expanding to mobile and adding calendar integration based on user feedback. These features are expected to be finished in March.
The app will offer features common to other group scheduling software but presents them in a cohesive way that is easy to understand. With seamless integration, it is specifically designed to minimize friction in workflows.
myOverlap is highly receptive to user feedback. For example, a recent group of event organizers with remote team members requested a dedicated iOS app to collaborate from anywhere. In response, the myOverlap team quickly created the mobile app with an intuitive interface to accommodate these teams. The app includes innovative features to enhance scheduling efficiency, including:
– A new “Filter” feature allows organizers to pinpoint individual availability or subgroup preferences for streamlined planning.
– The “Best Time” feature identifies the optimal meeting time with minimal effort from the user.
– The “Schedule” feature enables organizers to confirm final meeting times and automatically send email invites directly through the platform.
MyOverlap cofounder Noah Hubbard, a finance and accounting double-major at Clemson, states the software will challenge a competitive market with its user-friendly interface that takes less than 20 seconds to create a new poll. “MyOverlap was designed to effortlessly bring people together,” he said. “Unlike many platforms that claim to connect us but instead keep us scrolling and disconnected from real-world interactions, our tool focuses on fostering genuine connection and collaboration.”
Hubbard, a lifelong resident of the Upstate, enjoys the region’s exploding tech scene and having access to industry’s young, top-of-the-line talent. To further his idea for MyOverlap, he reached out to Upstate Upstarts, an angel investment fund that supports Upstate South Carolina-based tech entrepreneurs, in November 2024.
“It’s incredible to see Upstate South Carolina becoming a center for innovation and creativity. As someone who grew up here, I feel fortunate to witness the impact that organizations like Upstate Upstarts, NextGEN, and VentureSouth are making to support startups,” said Hubbard.
MyOverlap’s team works remotely, with many members applying skills from their full-time jobs to the app’s development.
“Working online presents challenges in communication and staying in sync. However, we make consistent progress by being open about our workloads outside of MyOverlap and planning accordingly. While the pace varies from week to week, I encourage the team to focus on the power of consistency. Meaningful progress is achieved over time, and with sustained effort, we can build something truly remarkable,” said Hubbard.
While the team expands the app’s functionality, it maintains its emphasis on providing a user experience with unmatched simplicity and ease of use.
The MyOverlap iOS app is set to launch in March and will be available for download on the App Store. In the meantime, you can use the web version for free by visiting the MyOverlap website: myoverlap.com
