Clemson University Names Tom Taylor Interim Deputy CIO

CLEMSON, SC — Clemson Computing and Information Technology has named Tom Taylor to serve as the interim deputy chief information officer for enterprise systems and applications.
Taylor has led Clemson University’s Medicaid IT Services group, responsible for the state’s Medicaid eligibility and claims payment systems for an estimated 925,000 Medicaid recipients. MITS has 130 employees/contractors in an IT operation accountable for processing roughly $6 billion in healthcare claims annually. Taylor has more than 30 years of combined experience in information technology, enterprise application development and business intelligence provisioning, and has held senior IT leadership roles for 17 years.
“Tom Taylor raised the level of Clemson’s performance in delivering IT services to the Medicaid community in South Carolina, and this is evident in his team’s recent record achievement for consecutive weeks of claims processing without delay or error,” said Jim Bottum, vice provost for information technology and chief information officer at Clemson. “I fully expect Tom to do the same in working with the professionals who are critical to supporting the missions of the university.”
Taylor will be responsible for a diverse portfolio of enterprise systems that support the university’s critical administrative, financial and academic functions and will drive continuous improvement and a customer focus in these systems and applications. CCIT functional areas that will report to him include technical coherence, software development & integration, business systems, data warehouse and business initiatives, and academic systems.
