Clinton 8 and Under Dixie Youth Team Heads to Dixie Youth State Tournament after Winning All-Star District 3 Baseball Championship
July 5, 2023The Clinton 8 and Under Dixie Youth Team is headed to the State Tournament this weekend in Dillon, South Carolina.
They earn the right to advance to the state championship tournament after competing and winning the All-Star District 3 Baseball Tournament in Ninety Six, SC. The Clinton team won the Championship game 12-1 on June 23 against Greenwood County All-Stars.
In the District championship game against Greenwood County, Clinton opened up the top of the 1st inning by scoring four runs. Greenwood scored one run in the bottom of the 1st inning and Clinton was able to shut them out the rest of the game.
The Dixie Youth State Tournament starts on July 7 and runs through July 11. Clinton’s first game is Saturday morning at 11:30 against Hilton Head.
“We are extremely proud of these boys and the work they have put into the game,” said Assistant Coach Jeffrey Young. “They have grown individually and as a team and should be very proud of themselves for winning the All-Star District 3 Baseball Tournament. This group has been a lot of fun to work with.”
