Clinton Fire Department Honors Longtime Chaplain Kenny Moore with Symbolic Gift of Service
December 9, 2024After a year marked by challenges and trials for the Clinton Fire Department and the City of Clinton, one constant source of support has been Chaplain Kenny Moore, pastor of Davidson Street Baptist Church.
On Sunday, December 8, 2024, during the worship service at Davidson Baptist Church, Clinton Fire Chief Jeremy Marshall, joined by members of the Clinton Fire Department, presented Pastor Moore with a personal fire helmet as a token of their deep appreciation.
The fire helmet, deeply symbolic in the fire service, represents far more than protective gear. It signifies inclusion, sacrifice, and dedication, with firefighters viewing it as a mark of honor and service. By gifting Pastor Moore a helmet, the department not only honored his steadfast support but also welcomed him as part of their team, recognizing him as family.
Pastor Moore has served as a chaplain for 30 years of his 35 years as a pastor, with 20 of those years dedicated to serving the men and women of the City of Clinton.
Fire Chief Jeremy Marshall spoke about Pastor Moore’s impact, saying, “Pastor Kenny Moore has been a blessing to the department in more ways than I can count. Whether it’s providing comfort, offering prayers, or showing up to help on the toughest days, he has been a rock for this team. His selfless service does not go unnoticed, and this helmet is just a small way for us to show our gratitude.”
Pastor Moore, deeply moved by the gesture, reflected on the honor, saying, “I never expected anything like this. I consider it a privilege to serve alongside the brave men and women of this department, whether it’s offering a word of prayer or simply showing up when they need support. It’s a role I don’t take lightly, and I’m grateful to both the fire department and my church family for trusting me to serve in this way.”
He added, “Davidson Street Baptist Church has been so supportive, and I couldn’t do this without them. I truly feel blessed to pastor such a wonderful church and to serve such a dedicated group of first responders.”
The presentation underscored the deep bond between the Clinton Fire Department and their chaplain, whose dedication and servant’s heart have been a source of strength throughout a uniquely challenging year. For Pastor Moore, the helmet stands as a powerful symbol of his place within the fire department family and the honor of walking alongside them in service.
