Clinton Girls Tennis Advances to Upper State Championship

The Clinton High School Girls Tennis Team continued their winning streak with a commanding 5–1 victory over Chesnee High School on Friday, October 31, 2025.
The Lady Red Devils once again showcased depth and determination across the lineup:

#1 Singles: Libby Dailey defeated Emily Garrett 6–3, 3–6, (10–6)
#2 Singles: Addy Derrick defeated Katie Barnett 6–0, 6–0
#3 Singles: Abby McMurray defeated Lydia McKinney 6–1, 6–2
#4 Singles: Kayleigh Lawson defeated Layia Vinesette 6–1, 6–4
#5 Singles: Merin Orr lost to Alina Budzozi 6–2, 6–2
#1 Doubles: Dailey & Derrick — did not play
#2 Doubles: Savanna Fountain & Lydia Whitmore defeated Kayleigh Horton & Ava Blackwell 7–6, 6–4
With the victory, Clinton advances to the SCHSL AA Girls Tennis Upper State Championship on Tuesday, November 4, where they will face the winner of the Landrum vs. Whitmire match.
The location will depend on that outcome — the Lady Red Devils will travel to Landrum if Landrum wins or play at Whitmire if Whitmire advances.
Clinton’s focused play and teamwork continue to carry them closer to a potential state championship appearance.
