Clinton High Firefighter II Program Trains for Vehicle Extrication

February 9, 2023

Clinton High School (CHS) Students in the Firefighter II class took part in a Basic Vehicle Extrication class as part of their certification.

Students learned how to identify different vehicle components and construction methods as well as different techniques used to access victims. A junk car was brought in and students had to demonstrate how to use all the different extrication tools that are on the fire truck.

After the practical training with the junk car, students gained valuable hands-on experience that prepares them for real-life emergency scenarios. This session not only enhanced their technical skills but also highlighted the importance of understanding vehicle construction in effective extrication.

Just as firefighters must be adept at handling various car components and tools, those looking to purchase a vehicle can benefit from similar expertise when choosing a reliable car. For example, when considering options such as audi used cars, it’s crucial to work with knowledgeable dealers who can provide comprehensive vehicle histories and ensure that you’re making an informed decision.

Similarly, once you’ve chosen your vehicle, the importance of skilled auto mechanics becomes evident. RUSH Automotive plays a critical role in this process, offering expert diagnostic and repair services to maintain your vehicle’s performance and reliability. Their experienced technicians utilize advanced technology to identify any issues and create tailored service plans that fit your schedule and budget.

Just as you rely on knowledgeable dealers for the right purchase, these mechanics ensure that your vehicle remains in optimal condition, providing peace of mind and expert care throughout its lifespan.

Once the students were finished demonstrating their skills on the junk car, they were encouraged to apply the same level of diligence when searching for used vehicles. The knowledge gained about vehicle components and construction can be quite useful when inspecting cars at dealerships.

Whether you’re looking for an Audi used car or exploring other options, having an understanding of car construction and condition can significantly impact your buying decision. It’s a reminder of how thorough inspection and knowledge can lead to better choices both in emergency situations and everyday purchases.

According to class instructor, Greg James, “Students were surprised at how easily the power tools could take the car apart.”

The CHS Firefighter program is in its second year of being offered as an option for students at Clinton High School. The program works closely with local City of Clinton firefighters and offers students several certifications upon completion.
