Clinton Police Participate in Multi-Agency Active Shooter Training at Presbyterian College

July 16, 2025

On Monday, the Clinton Police Department, alongside key local partners, participated in a comprehensive Active Shooter Training Exercise on the campus of Presbyterian College. This important collaboration brought together Laurens County 911 Dispatch, PC Campus Police, the Clinton Fire Department, and other first-responder agencies—demonstrating the importance of a unified response in high-stress situations.

The realistic, scenario-based training was led by Dutch Moyer and the team from The Sawmill Training Complex in Laurens. Their expertise in tactical response and scenario development provided participants with hands-on experience in managing the complexities of an active shooter event.

“These types of trainings are absolutely vital to our ability to protect the people we serve,” said Clinton Police Chief Michael Addison. “The only way to ensure a successful outcome in a high-stress, life-threatening situation is through preparation and teamwork. I’m proud of the professionalism our department showed and grateful for the collaboration from all of our partner agencies.”

Chief Addison noted that joint exercises like this do more than enhance tactical readiness—they strengthen trust, communication, and coordination among the agencies that respond when every second counts. “When seconds matter, we rely on each other. Training like this ensures we’re all speaking the same language when it counts the most,” he added.

The Clinton Police Department extended its thanks to Presbyterian College for hosting the training and to all participating agencies for their commitment to ensuring the safety of the Clinton community.
