Clinton’s Cal Pitts Named Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week for Dominant Performance Against Laurens Raiders

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for the Laurens County gameson August 30th, the Player of the week is Clinton High School Senior Offensive Lineman, Cal Pitts.

Pitts is a senior offensive tackle for the Clinton Red Devils and is one of the anchors on the Clinton Red Devil Offensive Line. Pitts performance on the Offensive line Friday night was key to the Devils rushing attack which led Clinton to a 35-8 victory over the Laurens Raiders.

Pitts had three knockdown blocks Friday night against the Raiders and helped lead Clinton to 327 yards rushing and 409 yards of total offense. Pitts graded out at 98% with 3 knockdown blocks and 2 pancake blocks.

Clinton High School Head Football Coach Corey Fountain states, “Cal is a part of our leadership council and leads by example. Call is a great teammate by always picking up other players that needs rides and he organizes support of other sports by getting his accountability group and other teammates to attend other CHS sporting events.”

The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Pitts on September 5th at the second Touchdown Club meeting of the year.  The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens. Player of the Week awards this year will presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.

The September 5th meeting will feature the Presbyterian College Head Football Coach Steve Englehart.  The Blue Hose will travel to Greenwood to take on the Erskine College Flying Fleet on Saturday, September 7th.

The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.

Featured speaker for the next TD Club meeting on Thursday, September 19th will Furman University Head Football Coach Clay Hendrix.  Additionally, Player of the Week awards will be presented for the September 6 and 13 High School football games.
