Clinton’s Copeland-Davidson Post 56 Honored at American Legion Conference
October 28, 2024Clinton’s Copeland-Davidson Post 56 was a standout presence at the 2024 Annual American Legion Conference held in Columbia, where members proudly represented their community. The post received the Department’s Annual Children and Youth Citation for Outstanding Achievement as well as a Special Category 1 Dedicated Service Award, acknowledging their ongoing commitment to serving the youth and upholding the values of the American Legion.
The honors were announced during the conference’s awards ceremony, where State Adjutant Michael D. Strauss took a moment to commend Post 56 for their exceptional year of service. As he shared the post’s achievement of 130% of its membership goals for the year, an audible response of surprise and admiration rippled through the ballroom. Achieving well beyond their membership target, Post 56 demonstrated both the enthusiasm of its current members and the appeal of its mission to prospective ones.
“Post 56 has set a high bar for other posts around the state,” noted Strauss, highlighting the dedication and community spirit that Post 56 embodies. With a growing membership and a strong record of service, Clinton’s Copeland-Davidson Post 56 continues to enhance its role as a central force in the lives of local veterans, youth, and community members.
The post’s leadership and members expressed gratitude for the recognition and renewed their commitment to serving the Clinton community with programs and activities that benefit veterans, their families, and local youth. The awards mark a significant milestone in what has been a year of outstanding contributions by Post 56, reinforcing its reputation as a leader within the South Carolina American Legion.
