Clinton’s Javen ‘Zoom’ Cook Named Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on Friday, September 12th, the Player of the week is Clinton High School running back Javen ZoomCook.

Cook is a senior running back for the Clinton High School Red Devils as the Devils defeated AAA Chapman High School 40 – 34 in a thrilling overtime non region game.

Javen Cook had an outstanding night for the Red Devils as he led the Devils in rushing and scoring with 215 yards rushing on 20 carries.  Cook scored three touchdowns to lead the Red Devils in the exciting overtime victory and averaged 10.75 yards per carry.

Head Coach Corey Fountain stated, Javen ran the ball with relentless drive and a will to always finish forward.  He also did a great job of leading the team when the game came down to the wire.”

The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Cook on September 18th at the thirdTouchdown Club meeting of the year.  The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens with School District # 56 serving the meal and the food service line opening at 11:45 am.  Player of the Week awards will presented in 2025 by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.

Speaking on Thursday, September 18th will be legendary Laurens County native Coach Shell Dula.  The Hall of Fame coach won 253 games in his 32 plus year career as well as six State titles at three different schools.  Dula received the Order of the Palmetto as well in 2009.  The Touchdown Club Committee will also recognize current and new ‘Legends of the Game’ as well. 

The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.  

The featured speaker for the third TD Club meeting on Thursday, September 18th will be former High School Football Coaching great Shell Dula.  In addition to his coaching and athletic directorship career, Dula served as the Executive Director of the SC Athletic Coaches Association for many years.  Additionally, the Farm Bureau InsurancePlayer of the Weekawards will be presented for the September 5 and September 12 High School football games.
