Coastal Structures 2017 projects – A look back

January 1, 2018

Looking back at 2017, we have been fortunate to have worked on some pretty amazing projects along the Grand Strand, Georgetown and Charleston, South Carolina. From restaurants and financial buildings to health care and industrial complexes, we have thoroughly enjoyed working with our talented colleagues and clients and look forward to what 2018 has in store for Coastal Structures.

To name a few, we have highlighted some of our key projects completed this year.

MPW Industrial Services, Inc. in the Georgetown County Business Park was completed in April 2017. The $4 million project, which began in February 2016, involved additions and uplift to a 40,000-square foot building, originally constructed by Georgetown County. Design for the project was provided by Tych & Walker Architects.

The Corporate Hangar at the Georgetown County Airport is a 12,000-square foot building that was completed in August 2017. This is the third building constructed by our team at the Georgetown County Airport and was designed by Ashleigh Weatherly, P.E. with Weatherly Engineering, LLC.

The project for Carolina Canners, a bottler for Pepsi-Cola® Bottling Company, in Cheraw, S.C. included additions and major renovations to their existing facility. These included a 40,000-square foot warehouse with loading docks and 4,300-square foot brew room, compressor room and water room. The $4 million project began in August 2016 and was completed in May 2017. Design engineer for the project was Kellahan & Associates.

The construction of South Atlantic Bank in Mount Pleasant, S.C. began in August 2016 and was completed in July 2017. The $3 million project is the second South Atlantic Bank location constructed by our team; the first is located in Pawleys Island, S.C.

Heidi’s Corner, the newest dual restaurant building that hosts the popular Croissants Bistro & Bakery and newly famed Hook & Barrel Restaurant, opened its doors in August 2017 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The $1.5 million, 10,094-square foot building began construction in February 2017 and was designed by Castles Engineering. Chef Heidi Vukov was a pleasure to work with and we look forward to seeing continued success for her restaurants.

The newest Mellow Mushroom to hit the Grand Strand is now located in Murrells Inlet, S.C. The $1.6 million, 6,700-square foot restaurant opened in September 2017 and was designed by Tych & Walker Architects.
